York House is an independently owned boutique hotel in the heart of Whitley Bay, just a short stroll from the seafront.

Personally run by Michael and Marissa Ruddy for over 35 years, York House combines spacious, individually styled rooms with a relaxed atmosphere, thoughtful touches and genuinely personal service.

Breakfast at York House

Breakfast is an important part of the York House experience.

Alongside traditional cooked favourites, you’ll find specially blended granolas, fruit compotes and fresh fruit, organic fruit and vegetable juices, speciality teas and cafetière coffee. We use seasonal and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, with vegetarian and gluten-free choices available.

And because weekends should feel different, we serve Bucks Fizz every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday.

A York House Original

One of the little touches you’ll find at York House is our own homemade shortbread, freshly made in small batches using natural ingredients and our secret York House recipe.

Rich, buttery and traditionally made, they’re the perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea or coffee and a little taste of York House to enjoy during your stay. (Contains nuts).
